Life Without Barriers

Want to know what we can do for your business space?

Life Without Barriers, a national not‑for‑profit supporting youth, aged care, refugees and people with disabilities, manages around 700 properties across Australia. Furnishing these properties independently had created discrepancies between homes, making it difficult to maintain consistency and determine which items belonged to the organisation. When five new group living properties in Alice Springs and Darwin required full fit‑outs within a tight timeframe, Life Without Barriers engaged COS to manage the process, drawing on their previous positive experience working together.

With no formalised furnishing plan in place, the COS team began by analysing required items for every room. They consulted an occupational therapist to ensure all selections met accessibility needs, such as tables high enough for wheelchair access, chairs with arms to support transfers, and whitegoods with physical dials rather than touch controls. Harvey Norman was chosen as the primary product partner due to their wide range and reliable delivery capacity to remote regions. COS then sourced all required furniture, equipment and whitegoods for bedrooms, living areas, kitchens, laundries and outdoor spaces.

To streamline installation and staging, COS sent team members onsite to coordinate deliveries, open properties, and address emerging needs such as extra kitchen accessories or staff‑room furnishings. Their presence ensured smooth execution and allowed quick solutions to unplanned requirements. Both properties were fully furnished in the limited timeframe, with clear inventories documenting all items room‑by‑room. Life Without Barriers was highly satisfied with the outcome, noting the team’s dedication, efficiency and the quality of the completed fit‑outs
